Getting started with your family history is easy. Here’s a Summary of the 5 Basic Steps — or, as it’s known throughout America…“The High Point 5-Step.”

Step 1. Register on New FamilySearch
— requires membership # and birthdate

— one folder for each couple on your pedigree chart
— either into New FamilySearch only, or also into PAF software
.
Step 3. Set Up Your Internet Browser & Bookmarks (Favorites) – Optional

Step 4. Research Your Family
a) Begin with yourself and your immediate family
b) Then ask your parents, grandparents, and other relatives
c) Then begin to search the Internet using a handy Checklist
d) Then begin your search for original records

Step 5. Take The Names To The Temple
a) Start connecting your family
b) Check to see who needs temple ordinances
c) Select the individuals whose ordinances you want to reserve or perform
d) Print a Family Ordinance Request*
e) Smile and go to the temple and perform the ordinances

*if you don’t want to do the work yourself, just click a button and the Temple will handle the ordinances (and you’re done).
